Results from the 2012 Survey indicate that 92% of respondents use a cell phone, 86% use the internet, and 80% use a land line telephone. When an emergency situation or weather event occurs in the Village, it's important to be able to reach residents with relevant public safety information.
Pleasant Prairie uses a service called Nixle that allows public safety officials to send text messages to subscribers in the event of a public safety emergency such as: a missing child or person, police activity, evacuations, severe weather-related emergencies, and other dangerous situations. Snow Emergencies (times when two or more inches of snow have fallen and cars should not be parked on Village roads) are also announced through Nixle.
In order to receive emergency messages via text or email, visit www.nixle.com and click the "Sign Up Free!" button; then read and follow the directions you see there.
