PUBLIC SAFETY REMINDERS FROM THE PLEASANT PRAIRIE POLICE DEPARTMENT
Simple ways to help protect yourself from crime...
OOPS! CARDS - CRIME PREVENTION METHOD
While on patrol in our community, Pleasant Prairie Police Officers often notice an oversight that provides an attractive target for criminals. When an officer notices one of these oversights, they may complete and leave an OOPS! Card for a resident. OOPS! Cards (typically left during nighttime hours) may be left when an officer notices an open garage door or personal items like a bicycle left outside in a yard.
Between January 1 and March 13, officers wrote a total of 129 OOPS! Cards. The Pleasant Prairie Police Department would like to remind residents to please be mindful of the items you leave unsecured or in a visible place on your property. It only takes a few seconds for a thief to grab an item of value and go, and conversely, it only takes a few seconds for you to make it more difficult.
EASY STEPS YOU CAN TAKE TO PROTECT AGAINST CRIME
As a resident, you can take simple steps that will make you a less attractive victim for a would be thief:
• make a routine of double-checking that your garage door is closed and locked even when you're home
• lock doors and close windows when parking your car for any period of time
• don't leave items of value in a visible place in a parked vehicle
