The Wisconsin Public Service Commission requires water utilities to change out all 5/8- and 3/4-inch water meters every twenty years, before the end of their normal useful life. Water meters lose accuracy as they age, which in turn could increase your utility cost. The Village of Pleasant Prairie mails a notice to residents when the water meter installed in their home must be replaced.
When you receive a postcard from the Village regarding the replacement of your water meter, please call us at 262.925.6700 to schedule an appointment.
An adult who is at least 18 years of age should be present during the time of the appointment. In most cases, a water meter replacement takes less than one hour to complete and will not interrupt your water service. Pleasant Prairie Water Utility employees will be carrying a Village photo identification card and will arrive in a Village of Pleasant Prairie work vehicle. Residents are not charged a fee for the water meter replacement.
