In an effort to prevent accidental poisonings, prescription drug abuse, and pollution of our local waterways, the Pleasant Prairie Police Department (in cooperation with the Kenosha County Division of Health Services and other area law enforcement agencies) offers a permanent medication collection site.

The medication drop box is located in the lobby of the Pleasant Prairie Police Department at 8600 Green Bay Road and is available 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Through the drop box, you can dispose of unused, unwanted, and expired medications in a safe and environmentally sound manner, free-of-charge.

Medication should be kept in its original container with the name of the medication visible. Cross off any personal information on the container; place it in a bag; and dispose of it in the Medication Drop Box. The medication handlers thank you for following these guidelines.

Items that CAN be placed in the box include: prescription medications, ointments, over the counter medications, creams, and pet medications.

Items that CANNOT be placed in the box include: needles, sharps, and syringes, inhalers, sprays, liquids (like cough medicine), injectables, intravenous solutions, illegal drugs, and biohazardous materials.
