The Museum will be open for posted hours starting on Thursday, August 27th from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

The Historical Society can be reached at 262.577.5115 or [email protected]. Updates will be posted on Facebook and PleasantPrairieHistoricalSociety.org.

Original article released on August 12:

The Pleasant Prairie History Museum, at the historic Dublin School site, is planning to open its doors to visitors on Wednesday, August 26, 2020 — the 100th Anniversary of Women’s Suffrage. On that day 100 years ago, the 19th Amendment of the U.S. Constitution was passed, giving women the right to vote, a huge step towards equality for women.

The Pleasant Prairie Historical Society is also planning to host a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on August 26 to celebrate the History Museum’s opening. The event will be followed by a suffrage reenactment presented by the Pleasant Prairie Woman’s Club.

Event is free and open to the public. The museum is located at 3875 116th Avenue. Doors open at 4:00 p.m. and the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony begins 5:00 p.m. Bottled beverages will be provided. Parking available on 116th Street (car pooling is encouraged).

The Museum will feature exhibits on Pleasant Prairie history, the Women’s Suffrage Movement, and the Pleasant Prairie Women’s Club.

With the help of hundreds of local businesses and community residents, the Historical Society has been renovating the Dublin School and creating a local museum for the community. The Society is so thankful and excited to share their collective accomplishments with the community.

NOTE: The Historical Society is monitoring the COVID-19 pandemic, and a final decision will be made by early August whether or not to hold the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony. If the event takes place, there will be protocols to follow and proper social distancing guidelines. Please check out the Historical Society Facebook page and website for updated information about the event. Whether the Society can hold the Opening Ceremony or not, the Pleasant Prairie History Museum is still planning to open its doors to limited visitors beginning on August 26.
