On Monday, December 9, the Pleasant Prairie Plan Commission and Village Board considered and approved a Conceptual Plan for Senior Lifestyle Corporation. Senior Lifestyle Corporation, a company based in Chicago, Illinois, is proposing the construction of a senior community on 9-acres of vacant land on the south side of Prairie Ridge Boulevard, east of 97th Court and west of an existing senior apartment complex in Pleasant Prairie.
The company's Conceptual Plan proposes construction in two phases. Phase I calls for the construction of a three-story building that would offer 96 senior living (including memory care/assisted living) units and surface parking. Phase II calls for the construction of a 66-unit senior housing facility with underground parking.
Amenities proposed as part of the project include: central dining facilities; a multi-purpose room; fitness center; a garden and patio; greenhouse; salon and therapy room; and an arts and crafts room. Plans call for resident services to include: meals, housekeeping, linen service, transportation, and social and recreational activities. If needed, supportive care and assisted living services are proposed to include: management of medications; bathing; dressing; toileting; ambulating; eating; and memory care.
Phase I construction is expected to begin during the summer or fall of 2014. No time frame has yet been identified for the second phase of construction. Senior Lifestyle Corporation operates more than 100 senior housing communities throughout 22 states.
