Emerald Ash Borer Quarantine Remains in Effect in County
An Emerald Ash Borer was found in Kenosha County in a state trap at Highways 31 and 50 in August 2009. A quarantine was then established. The quarantine has made it illegal to move ash material (such as logs, mulch and nursery stock), hardwood firewood, and the Emerald Ash Borer itself out of the quarantine area. This helps to slow the spread of the Emerald Ash Borer. During 2012, additional Ash Borers were found in LakeView Corporate Park. The quarantine remains in effect.
The Village has been contracting with TruGreen to treat ash trees on Village owned property over the past three years. Residents who would like to have TruGreen treat ash trees on their property this fall for the same rate being charged to the Village can reach TruGreen at 847.680.8088 (select Option #2). The Village would like to remind residents not to transport ash material outside of our area. To learn more about the Ash Borer, please click here.
