During a May 6 Village Board Meeting, the Pleasant Prairie Fire & Rescue Ladies Auxiliary presented a monetary donation to the Racine Fire Bells in the amount $1,000. Pleasant Prairie's Fire & Rescue Ladies Auxiliary is a group of volunteers that work to support Pleasant Prairie's Fire & Rescue Department. The group conducts fundraisers each year (most notably two salad luncheons - one in April and the other in October). The Auxiliary then uses the funds raised in support of the Department.
The Racine Fire Bells were first established in 1948 and 1949. The Fire Bells are a group of community volunteers dedicated to ensuring that emergency personnel in Racine, Kenosha and Walworth Counties have rehabilitative support during larger emergency events. During major emergency events, volunteers with the Fire Bells will travel to the response site and help to rehydrate, warm or cool, and care for Police and Fire personnel as they work the event.
The Fire Bells currently have two vehicles and serve approximately 50 fire departments and law enforcement agencies throughout the three counties. The Fire Bells are financially supported by donations and grants. If you would like to learn more about the Racine Fire Bells, please visit RacineFireBells.org.
