Olympic Gold Medalist Summer Sanders will kick off the Patriots (PX3) July Invitational at RecPlex on Friday, July 12. Sanders won four medals as a swimmer during the 1992 Olympics: two gold, one silver, and one bronze. Since retiring from swimming, Sanders has worked as a correspondent, co-host and host of a long list of sports- and non-sports-related television shows on NBC, FOX, the Food Network, and Nickelodeon.
Sanders will appear at the RecPlex Aqua Arena to greet swimmers participating in the PX3 July Invitational and watch their warm ups. Sanders will then address the swimmers and spectators prior to the start of the meet. Following the address, Sanders will host a talk outside of the aqua arena at RecPlex at 5:45 p.m. on behalf of her sponsor, the Rethink Varicose Veins campaign. The public is invited to the 5:45 talk.
"This will be an amazing experience for swimmers and spectators alike," explained Chris Finkel, Business Director at RecPlex. "To hear motivational words from such a highly decorated Olympic athlete can be life changing for a young athlete, for anyone really. We are so excited to have Summer Sanders here to help inspire our swimmers and their families to reach for their dreams."
The PX3 July Invitational will take place July 12 through 14 at the RecPlex Aqua Arena. The meet will feature 725 swimmers between the ages of 6 and 18. The RecPlex Aqua Arena is located inside Prairie Springs Park in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, midway between Milwaukee and Chicago, just east of I-94 on Highway 165.
