Weather permitting, work to control Lyme grass along the Lake Michigan shoreline in the Carol Beach subdivision is expected to begin on Monday, August 12 and to be completed on August 13.
A contractor, Red Buffalo Nursery, will be leading the Lake Plain Strike Team, grant-funded (interstate) team brought together to control and eradicate high priority invasive plant species along the protected coastal natural areas on Lake Michigan in southeastern Wisconsin and northeastern Illinois.
The team will be spot spraying Lyme grass with an aquatic approved, water-based herbicide that is directly absorbed by the plant leaves and stems. "Herbicide Applied" signs will be posted between Monday morning and Tuesday afternoon at the project location. Lake Michigan beach will remain open during the work, and visitors to the area are asked to take heed of the signage.
