Site and Operational Plans Approved for Pleasant Prairie Premium Outlets to Install a Tesla Motors Supercharging Station for Electric Vehicles
During a September 9 meeting of the Pleasant Prairie Plan Commission, plans were approved for Pleasant Prairie Premium Outlets to install a Tesla Motors supercharging station for electric vehicles. A total of eight parking spaces will be equipped with a charging post for Tesla electric vehicles. The station, which will be the first supercharging station in Wisconsin, will be located in the northwest corner of the Pleasant Prairie Premium Outlets parking lot (west of the existing NIKE store).
Related electrical equipment will be installed near the parking spaces and will be screened from view with a fenced enclosure, landscaping and an additional retaining wall. The equipment for the station will be contained within 1,525 square feet of the property, including the space for the eight parking spaces. Both Tesla and Premium Outlets will maintain the charging station and site improvements.
The self-service, supercharging station will be available to motorists 24 hours per day, seven days per week. Tesla's supercharging stations are able to recharge 50% battery capacity in as few as 20 minutes and a full charge in under an hour. Tesla Motors has delivered more than 10,000 electric vehicles to customers in 31 countries. They are proposing to locate their supercharging stations along popular and well-traveled routes for their customers' use. They believe this will encourage cleaner energy consumption.
