Posted on 08/17/2021
Pleasant Prairie Patriots Swim Team member Eleni Gewalt, a RecPlex Aquatics Staff Member, is a Junior National Champion. She won the 50 Meter Breaststroke in Huntsville, Alabama, on August 13. Gewalt does her club swimming at RecPlex with the Pleasant Prairie Patriots (PX3), a team that emerged in 2011, originally known as the Kenosha Barracudas that started in 1969. PX3 is one of approximately 64 swim teams in Wisconsin registered with the state and national organizations, Wisconsin Swimming and USA Swimming.

The Pleasant Prairie Patriots (PX3) provide a year-round competitive swim team with high-quality professional coaching and technique instruction. The team operates out of RecPlex, the country's largest municipal-run recreation facility, with a state-of-the-art 50-meter training pool. As a result, every member of the swim team has the opportunity to improve swimming skills and achieve success at their ability level. In addition, the group promotes aquatic excellence in a safe, healthy, and positive environment.

"I want to congratulate Eleni on this achievement and applaud her for the time, focus, and dedication
needed to be a high-level achiever on the national stage," said Steve Frye, PX3 Head Coach/CEO and RecPlex Aquatics Manager. "I would also like to show my gratitude for all the PX3 swim coaches who have invested their time over the years with Eleni, and the rest of our great swimmers. They have done a remarkable job leading all the swim groups in our program to the highest levels of the sport.”

All Pleasant Prairie Patriots coaches are members of USA Swimming and have access to the most comprehensive training and certification programs for youth swimming. Each Pleasant Prairie Patriots Swim Team member enjoys a team-centered environment that helps swimmers perfect their strokes and allows them to compete against others at their level. The competitive swim team focuses on athletes age five and up. Swimmers are grouped by age and ability and have daily practices to better their skill and ability levels. PX3 is coming off back-to-back Division 2 Wisconsin State Championship titles and had swimmers compete at the Olympic and Paralympic Trials in 2021. One Swimmer is currently in Tokyo who will represent Team USA in the Tokyo Paralympic Games on August 25, 2021.
