In accordance with Chapter 119 of the Municipal
Code, every person residing in the Village who owns a dog which is more
than five (5) months of age on January 1 of any year shall annually
obtain a dog license. No person shall keep, house or maintain more than
four (4) adult dogs one year or older on any separate parcel of real
estate located in the Village of Pleasant Prairie unless licensed as a
dog kennel by the State of Wisconsin.
Licenses may be obtained at
the Village Hall, 9915 39th Avenue, Monday – Friday, from 7:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. In order to receive a license you must present a current rabies
certificate which includes the following information: rabies vaccination
date, expiration date, vaccine manufacturer, and vaccine serial number.
If your dog is spayed or neutered you must present proof of such from a
veterinarian’s office.
The fee for an annual dog license is
$15.00 for a spayed or neutered dog, or $20.00 for a dog that is not
spayed or neutered. For dogs five months of age after July 1 only, the
cost will be one half of the original license fee. The annual license
runs from January 1st through December 31st, but after March 31st a
$5.00 late fee is added to each license fee.
The licenses/tags for
the next calendar year are available in December. If you want to
receive your license by mail, please send a check for payment along with
a rabies certificate and a self-addressed stamped envelope to: Finance
