PUBLIC INVITED TO TWO RIBBON CUTTING CEREMONIES FOR NEW TENNIS/PICKLEBALL COURTS IN PLEASANT PRAIRIE ON SATURDAY MORNING NOVEMBER 5
All are invited to join us for two ribbon cutting ceremonies for new tennis/pickleball courts recently installed at two parks in Pleasant Prairie. Please join us for brief remarks, the ribbon cutting ceremonies, and cookies following the ceremonies.
The first ribbon cutting will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 5 at Village Green Park located at 98th Street and Cooper Road. A second ribbon cutting will begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 5 at Pleasant Prairie Park located at 104th Avenue and Bain Station Road.
Per our community's Park and Open Space Plan, tennis and basketball courts were recently completed in two community parks. The projects were funded with impact fees that have been collected over approximately the past eleven years. An impact fee is the fee paid to the Village at the time that a building permit is issued for a new development or residence.
Impact fees are used to pay for public improvements that are necessary to serve a new development or residence, such as additional police station and fire station capacity and park and trail additions. Impact fees are used to protect existing property taxpayers from paying costs related to newly constructed residences or developments.
"These amenities were installed based on public input we received during the park planning process a few years back," explained Public Works Director John Steinbrink Jr. "We'd love to see folks come out to help us celebrate these new amenities for our community, and we can't wait to see them in use. The tennis courts have also been set up for use as pickleball courts."
