On Monday, May 12, site and operational plans were considered and approved for Niagara Bottling to construct a new bottling facility at 11031 88th Avenue. The facility will be used to manufacture plastic bottles and caps and to bottle water for the Niagara brand and private label customers. The facility will manufacture various types of bottled water in various sized bottles.
The company will subdivide approximately 28.5 acres into two lots and construct the facility on approximately 22.8 acres. Approximately 25% of the acres will remain open space. Plans call for a 377,472 square foot building to be built with 88,400 square feet for factory use, 279,693 square feet for storage, and 6,286 for business use. A freestanding guardhouse will also be constructed and a truck court will be fully enclosed.
Upon full build-out, the company expects a maximum of 370 and an average of 300 truck trips to and from the site daily in addition to a maximum of 150 and an average of 120 automobile trips daily. The number of full-time employees at full build-out is expected to be between 75 and 105 over four shifts. At start up, the facility will employ 41 full-time positions.
Once operational, Niagara will become the largest customer of the Pleasant Prairie Water Utility, eventually offering economies of scale to all Village water and wastewater customers. The company will also purchase spring water from approved spring sources. Village Administrator Mike Pollocoff commented, “We are pleased to welcome another new business to our community. We look forward to Niagara’s first day of operation in Pleasant Prairie.” Construction is expected to be complete yet this year, and the first bottle is expected to be filled on November 14, 2014.
