The Dublin School Open House on September 7 was a success! The event featured school tours, a quaint picnic with old-fashioned games, and stories from the last Dublin School principal, Dr. Anthony Bisciglia. Banners donated by Catalyst Exhibits brought a special awareness to the Pleasant Prairie Historical Society's mission to Preserve the Past and Educate the Future.
Over 300 people toured the school, attended the picnic, shared stories and school memories, and brought photos of their school days. At times, the laughter and stories were reminiscent of a class reunion of former Dublin School schoolmates. At the event, Society members gathered historical accounts about the people, businesses, schools, churches, activities and events that have taken place in Pleasant Prairie.
From the time Dr. Bisciglia rang the old brass bell to bring the attendees into the school, he was surrounded by many of the school's former students. His presentation in the chalk board classroom provided an interesting perspective on the activities of his former students and the charm of Dublin School.
Thank you to all of the Society members, businesses and clubs who donated their time and talents in volunteering to clean and ready the school site and volunteer for its Open House. And, a special thank you to all of the participants who shared their memories and donated photographs and other memorabilia about earlier days in Pleasant Prairie.
