The Village of Pleasant Prairie is pleased to announce that race dates have been set for three major triathlon events during 2010. Prairie Springs Park and Lake Andrea will host the Pleasant Prairie Adult and Junior Triathlons on June 26 and 27. Prairie Springs Park will also be the host site for the Trek Women's Triathlon on July 10 and 11 and the Danskin Women's Triathlon Series on August 21 and 22. Registration for the Trek Women's Triathlon is already underway at Trekwomenstriathlonseries.com. The Trek race is expected to draw 3,500 participants.
Registration for the Pleasant Prairie Triathlons is expected to open on January 15. Danskin is expected to open registration shortly thereafter. During 2009, the Pleasant Prairie Triathlon drew roughly 1,500 athletes to the area. A similar number are expected during June of 2010. The Danskin Women's Triathlon is expected to draw approximately 2,750 participants during the month of August. More information about the Pleasant Prairie Triathlon can be found at PleasantPrairieTriathlon.com. Information regarding the Danskin Women's Triathlon can be found at Danskintriathlon.net.
"Prairie Springs Park and Lake Andrea have become known as a premiere venue for multisport events," commented Carol Willke, Director of Recreation for the Village of Pleasant Prairie. "We are so pleased to be able to host these events in our community. Not only are they a boost for local businesses, but they provide a challenging and fulfilling experience for athletes, volunteers and spectators." The races also reach out to the broader community through charitable giving components.
During 2010, the races will once again help support charitable organizations. A portion of the proceeds from the Pleasant Prairie Triathlon will benefit youth and adults with special needs who are served through the Therapeutic Recreation Program at LakeView RecPlex. The Trek Triathlon team will partner with Team Survivor and a national cancer research charity through a participant pledge program. The Danskin Triathlon team has yet to announce their partnership with a community charity.
