On Monday, February 15, the public was invited to a Meet and Greet, where Private First Class (PFC) Ryan Miller presented the Pleasant Prairie Village Board with a U.S. Flag which was flown in Iraq during his tour of duty. PFC Miller is a Pleasant Prairie resident and part-time Village employee who has just returned from a 9-month tour of duty in Iraq with the Army National Guard.
In November of 2009, PFC Miller shipped a U.S. flag that had been flown in Iraq to Pleasant Prairie Public Works Director John Steinbrink Jr. The same flag was raised above the Pleasant Prairie Veterans Memorial during the 2009 Veterans Day Ceremony on November 8. It was taken down soon after the ceremony and will be placed in a glass display case with a certificate of authenticity, some patches and a medallion from PFC Miller's tour of duty.
During the Monday Meet and Greet, PFC Miller presented the arrangement to members of the Pleasant Prairie Village Board. Miller was employed with the Village from October of 2008 through January of 2009. He will be restarting employment with the Village next month.
