
On Saturday, March 20, all were invited to RecPlex in Pleasant Prairie from 9:00 a.m. until 3:00 p.m. for a fun-filled lineup at the Kids Expo. The Kids Expo was free and open to the public. Families attending the expo found a dynamic mix of exhibitors. Nearly 50 exhibitors were on hand providing demonstrations, products, information and activities related to youth and families.
Special youth-oriented activities included: on-stage entertainment every half hour; children's Passport Raffles; an obstacle course sponsored by Pleasant Prairie Fire & Rescue; an appearance by Rico, Pleasant Prairie Police Department's K-9 friend; a free inflatables area; and more. Exhibitors and information was be available for a variety of interests, such as: youth related retail; scouting; fire safety; family camping and recreation; healthcare; sports and athletics; education; summer childcare/camp options; family friendly restaurants and caterers; and more.
"We'll have live radio broadcasts from one of our sponsors, Lite 92.1 FM, lots of opportunities for free fun, and vendors with useful information and special offers," explained Chris Finkel, Business Director for RecPlex. Happenings Magazine was on hand to take photos of children. Happenings placed the child's photo on a Happenings Magazine Cover for the family to take home free of charge. "We're expecting this year's expo to be a lot of fun with some really useful family resources," added Mr. Finkel. A variety of concessions and retail merchandise were available on-site during the expo.
The Kids Expo originated in 2008 as a kick-off for the RecPlex Summer Camps. Information on multiple specialty camps will be available. Specialty camps this year will include: horseback riding, cheerleading, basketball, Crazy Science, baseball/softball, spa, dance and fishing camps. The Kids Expo was held on Saturday, March 20 between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. at RecPlex (9900 Terwall Terrace, Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin 53158). Sponsors for this year's event include Lite 92.1 and Happenings Magazine.
