ROAD CLOSURES PLANNED DURING THE PLEASANT PRAIRIE TRIATHLON ON JUNE 26
The Village will host the Pleasant Prairie Adult and Junior Triathlons during the weekend of June 25 and 26, with proceeds helping to support the Village Therapeutic Recreation program for individuals with special needs. The Pleasant Prairie Junior Triathlon will be held inside Prairie Springs Park on Saturday, June 25, and the Pleasant Prairie Triathlon will be held on Sunday, June 26.
On Sunday, June 26, to provide for the safety of all involved, surrounding roads will be closed to through traffic only from 6:00 a.m. until approximately noon. Residents will be allowed to travel to and from their homes, and businesses will be allowed deliveries and employee access. Residents and businesses in the area of the road closures are asked to please plan ahead. Roadways will be marked with the appropriate detours, and intersections throughout the course will be monitored for a safe flow of traffic. No parking will be allowed on the roads that are part of the course. All pets that are outdoors and adjacent to the race course should be leashed.
On Sunday, June 26, the following roads will be closed to through traffic:
- Highway 165 (104th Street) between Highway 31 (Green Bay Road) and 118th Avenue;
- 72nd Avenue and 108th Street between Highway 165 and Highway 31;
- Highway 31, both north and southbound lanes, between Highway 165 and the Wisconsin/Illinois State line (except for semi-truck traffic);
- Highway ML (Springbrook Road) between Highway 31 and 116th Street;
- 116th Street between Highway ML and Highway 32 (Sheridan Road);
- 32nd Avenue between 115th and 116th Streets;
- 115th Street between 32nd and 35th Avenues;
- 35th Avenue between 115th and 116th Streets;
- the East I-94 Frontage Road between Highway 165 and Highway C (Wilmot Road);
- the West I-94 Frontage Road between Highway C and Highway ML; and
- Highway H (88th Avenue) between 95th Street and Highway 165.
Local law enforcement and volunteers will work to ensure a safe and satisfying experience for participants, spectators, and the community. All are invited to be spectators at the race in order offer encouragement and support for the athletes.
