VILLAGE OF PLEASANT PRAIRIE INTRODUCES NEW DIRECTOR OF RECREATION
The Village of Pleasant Prairie is pleased to introduce Brian E. Smith as the new Director of Recreation. Smith officially began as Director on Monday, May 2, 2016. Prior to joining the Village of Pleasant Prairie, Smith served nine years with Provo City, Utah as Recreation Supervisor.
Smith has a broad range of experience related to community services, recreation programs and facilities, and special event management. Smith holds a Bachelor of Science in Recreation Management and Youth Leadership with a minor in Business Administration and a Master's Degree in Public Administration.
"It's an honor to work with the Village of Pleasant Prairie," Smith commented. "The Village Board has identified some exciting priorities in recreation and civic engagement." Smith added, "Theodore Roosevelt said, 'Far and away, the best prize that life has to offer is the chance to work hard at work worth doing,' and I feel grateful for the opportunity to work to enhance the quality of life in our community."
Village Administrator Michael Pollocoff explained, "Brian will be instrumental in the growth of recreational opportunities in Pleasant Prairie. His fresh perspective and experience, coupled with the community resources at Pleasant Prairie RecPlex, will open new doors for recreational opportunities in our community." Pollocoff added, "We are so pleased to welcome Brian to Pleasant Prairie and look forward to good things to come."
Pleasant Prairie RecPlex is located minutes east of I-94 on Highway 165 in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin. Located between Chicago, Illinois and Milwaukee, Wisconsin, the facility draws more than 1,852,000 visitors per year for: year-round athletic and multi-sport events, health and fitness, youth-centered programs, childcare, and therapeutic recreation.
