Do you have a story to share about yourself or your loved one who has served this country in the service of the military? The Village is currently seeking short stories which may be used for publication in a future section of our website and possibly in the monthly newsletter.
The Village feels strongly about remembering and honoring our veterans, as demonstrated in the establishment of the Veterans Memorial inside Prairie Springs Park. We feel deeply that the memorial should not be about bricks and benches but about the people who are memorialized there. We hope it will to come to life for others who may have little concept of the experiences and sacrifices made by the men and women who have served our country.
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs reports that more than 656,000 veterans in the U.S. and Puerto Rico died in 2007. Whether you or your loved one served long ago, in the recent past, or is currently serving, your, his or her accounts could be shared to inspire a new generation.
