All were invited to join the Pleasant Prairie Fire & Rescue Department at their 75th Anniversary Celebration on Saturday, May 22. The celebration began at 10:00 a.m. and included a parade, brief commemorative ceremony and open house. Fire and rescue vehicles from Pleasant Prairie and other communities paraded from Pleasant Prairie Elementary to Fire Station #2. The open house featured apparatus and equipment displays, tours of the fire station, the fire safety house, children's games and activities, and more.

During March of 1935 a fire destroyed three homes and damaged a fourth in the then Town of Pleasant Prairie. On May 22, 1935, the Pleasant Prairie Town Board received a petition signed by 522 citizens that called for the formation of the department. The anniversary celebration marked 75 years since the day that citizens brought the department into being. In August of that same year, the department received their first fire engine. That first engine was available for viewing at the celebration.

Pleasant Prairie Fire & Rescue is attempting to reestablish contact with anyone who has served on the department in the past, along with any family members of those who have served on the department since its formation in 1935. Those with information related to past department members are asked to email [email protected] or to call 262/694-8027 Monday through Thursday between 1:00 and 5:00 p.m. "We would like to reestablish contact with past department members and create a comprehensive list for posterity sake," explained Fire Chief Paul Guilbert, Jr. "We would love to learn all we can about the past experiences within the department so we can share its history with future generations."
