Weather permitting, work to resurface a portion of Cooper Road between 85th and 93rd Streets is scheduled to begin on Monday, June 14. Planned improvements include pulverizing the existing asphalt, repaving and striping. The existing gravel shoulder will also be paved. The work is similar to that completed on 93rd Street west of Cooper Road during 2009.
One lane will remain open for through traffic during daytime hours, while both lanes will remain open for travel during evening hours. Travelers on Cooper Road can expect traffic on the road to be slow, and/or stopped at times, and are asked to use extra care when driving through the work area. Though schedules are dependent upon the weather, work is expected to be complete within one month.
The work is being paid for with funds from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). Pleasant Prairie will receive an estimated $307,000 through the Wisconsin Department of Transportation to complete the project. The Village will cover the cost of engineering for the project, approximately $28,000. Because of the ARRA funding, WisDOT will manage the contract for the work, which was awarded to Black Diamond Group, of Oak Creek, Wisconsin.
