On Monday, July 19, the Pleasant Prairie Village Board announced their intention to assist Rolf's Patisserie, Inc. of Lincolnwood, Illinois with $10,000,000 in financing for the purchase and customization of a 56,652 square foot commercial property at 10100 88th Avenue. Rolf's Patisserie is planning to customize the facility in order to manufacture gourmet, European-style cakes, tortes, pies, pastries and other baked goods. The Pleasant Prairie commercial bakery will accommodate continued growth for the company. It will compliment their current facility in Lincolnwood, Illinois, which is currently producing at full capacity.
Rolf's Patisserie plans to initially employ 50 full-time positions at the Pleasant Prairie location. Approximately 12 of the 50 jobs will transfer from their current location in Illinois. To assist with the project, the Village plans to authorize Rolf's Patisserie to issue $10,000,000 in tax-exempt Industrial Development Revenue Bonds. "Similar to assistance provided to EMCO Chemical Company earlier this year, the Village will authorize the tax exempt status, but Rolf's Patisserie will issue the bonds and retain all financial responsibility for the repayment of the funds," explained Village President John Steinbrink Sr. Through the Village authorization, Rolf's Patisserie will be able to take advantage of a tax-exempt status for repayment of the debt. The project itself, however, will remain subject to property tax payments.
"We are very pleased to welcome a new manufacturer to Pleasant Prairie," commented Steinbrink. "We'd like to thank Rolf's for bringing more jobs to the community and are confident that they'll enjoy doing business here in Pleasant Prairie." The Pleasant Prairie Plan Commission will consider Site and Operational Plans for the project on August 9.
