
Members of Pleasant Prairie Fire & Rescue would like to publicly thank all those who helped "Fill-the-Boot" during the 2010 Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) fundraiser during the first weekend in September. Pleasant Prairie Fire & Rescue collected loose dollars and change at two locations over three days during this year's campaign. Firefighters were trying to top last year's total of $17,729.14. The year prior, the department had collected a total of $10,018.18.
This year, Pleasant Prairie Fire Fighters collected $20,946.30 over the three-day fundraiser.
"In years past, we've been overwhelmed by the generosity of the motorists we've met," commented Pleasant Prairie Fire & Rescue Chief Paul Guilbert Jr. "Once again, we were overwhelmed by the public's support. We cannot thank them enough for their generosity. I am very proud of the emergency work our personnel perform on a daily basis; I am especially proud of the effort put forth during the MDA ‘Fill-the-Boot' project."
Fill-the-Boot is an annual tradition for firefighters across the country. The International Association of Firefighters has been a national sponsor of the MDA since 1954. Pleasant Prairie has plans to Fill-the-Boot again during next year's campaign.
