CERT (Citizen Emergency Response Training) classes are now being offered at the Wheatland Fire Department. Classes are free and all materials are supplied by Kenosha Emergency Management and Southeast Wisconsin Citizen Corps.
Residents in Kenosha County and the surrounding areas who would like to learn how to be prepared to respond to emergencies in their communities are invited to attend a free training course. SEWICC is now accepting registrations for the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) training course to he held Friday, November 5th from 6 pm to 10 pm, Saturday November 6th & Sunday November 7th from 8 am to 4 pm at Wheatland Fire Department, 34011 Geneva Road, P.O. Box 797, New Munster, WI 53152.
The CERT program teaches citizens how to not only be prepared for emergencies, but also how to assist their families, neighbors and coworkers when emergencies or disasters strike. CERT is a national training program that prepares citizens to respond to both man-made and natural disasters.
The CERT training is a two and a half day class. The training includes presentations, discussions and hands-on experience in topics ranging from first-aid, and fire suppression to search & rescue. Using their training, CERT members can assist others in their neighborhood or workplace following an event and take an active role in preparing their community.
Registration is free, but space is limited. Participants need to attend all three days. A registration form is available as a downloadable PDF below. Registrations should be mailed to:
