In efforts to help preserve knowledge of life in Pleasant Prairie along with places and items of historical or archeological significance, a volunteer-based, not for profit historical preservation society has been created. During August of 2010, the Pleasant Prairie Historical Society, Inc. was licensed by the State of Wisconsin as a charitable organization with the main purpose of collecting, preserving and exhibiting oral history stories and historical pieces that will provide educational opportunities and foster an appreciation of Pleasant Prairie's historical significance.

Still in its infancy, the volunteer-based Society is busy establishing the operational framework and policies which will guide the Society's efforts. The Pleasant Prairie Historical Society will soon begin efforts to secure funding for historical preservation efforts.

The group is also preparing to reach out to members of the residential and business communities who may have historical artifacts, documents, photographs, paintings, clothing, furniture, tools or other items as well as oral historical stories to tell that could be added to the Historical Society's collection.
