The Village of Pleasant Prairie will be reorganizing its Building Inspection and Engineering Departments. Recently, the Building Inspection Superintendent for the Village announced his retirement. In response to the announcement, Pleasant Prairie has decided to incorporate building inspection services under the general direction of the Engineering Department. Village Engineer Mike Spence, P.E. will oversee the reorganization and lead the Engineering/Inspection team.
"The reorganization of the two departments offers notable benefits," explained Village Administrator Mike Pollocoff. "It addresses the need for a qualified department head to manage and improve operations and will provide better coordination of improvements being completed on private property and those being completed in the public right-of-way. Of particular significance are improvements related to storm water drainage. It will also allow the Village to realize a salary savings by having one department head oversee what were formerly two separate departments." The reorganization will result in an annual savings of approximately $36,000, as building inspection services will now be provided by two senior level inspectors, as opposed to a department head and one senior level inspector.
As a result of the reorganization, in January, the Engineering Department will move to Village Hall at 9915 39th Avenue from its former location on Green Bay Road. Office hours for the Engineering services will remain 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Building inspectors will continue to have counter hours, also at Village Hall, between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 p.m. and perform fieldwork from 12:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m.
