During a May 4 Village Board meeting, John and Dorothy Ingram, longtime Pleasant Prairie residents, were presented with a resolution in honor of their donation of 30.73 acres of land for the creation of a new public park. The Ingrams donated the land to the Village of Pleasant Prairie on December 30, 2008. The couple built their home on the same land in 1971. Since that time, they have lived and worked from the property which they hope to see transformed into a community park. Features they would like to see there include a pond for fishing, trees and shrubbery to attract birds and other wildlife, and trails for walking. The park will be named for the couple, and a memorial to them will be placed at the entrance to the park.

During the same meeting, a contract for the design of the new Ingram Park was awarded to Schreiber/Anderson Associates by the Village Board. Schreiber/Anderson will perform background research and collect data, in addition to reviewing existing plans, maps and surveys related to the property. They will conduct a public meeting to gather input for use while completing conceptual plans and preliminary cost estimates for the new park. Planning is expected to begin in early June and to be completed during the fall of 2009. The contract for conceptual planning for Ingram Park was awarded for $9,172. Schreiber/Anderson submitted the lowest bid out of four companies that competed for the conceptual planning project.

Members of the Village Board expressed their most sincere thanks to John and Dorothy Ingram for their generous donation of parkland. Mike Pollocoff, Pleasant Prairie Village Administrator reiterated an earlier sentiment, "The Ingram's donation of their property for all Village residents to enjoy and appreciate as a park is no small gesture. It's truly an act of community and an amazing gift."
