VILLAGE AWARDS CONTRACT FOR REPLACEMENT OF 28-YEAR-OLD LADDER TRUCK - DELIVERY EXPECTED NEAR END OF 2016
On January 4, the Village Board considered and approved an award of contract for a new 100-foot aerial platform fire truck and related equipment for a cost not to exceed $1,343,372. The new truck will replace a 28-year-old ladder truck.
The Fire & Rescue Department has evaluated many brands, styles and configurations of aerial platform trucks over the past several years in order to prepare for the purchase. Factors considered included Insurance Service Organization (ISO) requirements, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) requirements, specific buildings and hazards present in the community, and future developments that have been planned or are anticipated (the Village Green Center and additional, large scale industrial or commercial buildings). The department anticipates taking delivery of the new truck later this year.
