VILLAGE SEEKS ASSISTANCE FROM WISCONSIN COMMISSIONER OF RAILROADS TO RESOLVE FLOODING AND DRAINAGE ISSUES RELATED TO CULVERT UNDER UNION PACIFIC RAILROAD
On Monday, February 20, the Pleasant Prairie Village Board passed a resolution requesting assistance from the Wisconsin Commissioner of Railroads.
For approximately the past year, property owners and Village staff have been attempting to address drainage and flooding issues that occur in an area upstream from a culvert that runs under the Union Pacific Railroad, approximately 1,750 feet north of Bain Station Road.
The culvert that runs underneath the railroad has not been properly maintained and is no longer conveying water as it was designed and constructed to do. Over the past year, the Village has been unable to secure Union Pacific Railroad's assistance in maintaining the culvert to properly convey water.
The resolution passed Monday by the Village Board petitions the Wisconsin Commissioner of Railroads to intercede on the Village's behalf and require Union Pacific to perform the proper maintenance of the culvert in order to resolve the drainage and flooding issues.
