On Saturday, April 4, at around 4:10 a.m. Pleasant Prairie Police located a stolen vehicle driving in the area of 89th Street and 34th Avenue. The officer that found the vehicle attempted to stop the stolen 2008 Chrysler Sebring; however, the vehicle fled.
Officers pursued the vehicle until they lost sight of it. It was located seconds later by the Winthrop Harbor, Illinois Police Department. The vehicle crashed into a guardrail on 128th Street and Green Bay Road, and the four occupants fled on foot. The passengers fled back into Illinois, and the driver fled north into a subdivision on the Wisconsin side of the border. Officers from six different Wisconsin and Illinois agencies assisted in searching for the occupants.
All four suspects were located and taken into custody. Damage from the accident was minor, with no injuries reported. Police are continuing to investigate the incident, but the driver, a 19-year-old male from Waukegan, was taken to the Kenosha County Jail, where he was held on the charges of Knowingly Fleeing an Officer and Operating a Motor Vehicle without Owner’s Consent. He will also be cited for a number of municipal traffic violations.
