The Village of Pleasant Prairie is constructing water main improvements on County Trunk Highway H (88th Avenue) from 95th Street to Prairie Ridge Boulevard in advance of Kenosha County’s upcoming project to resurface 88th Avenue. The improvements will address an existing ductile iron water main that has deteriorated and is prone to water main breaks. The water main has a redundant section, extending south of County Trunk Highway C, that will be abandoned without adversely affecting fire flow capacity or the Village water system's operations.
Key aspects of the project include:
- Abandoning an existing ductile iron water main along 88th Avenue from 95th Street to CTH C.
- Replacing a section of the 88th Avenue water main between CTH C and Prairie Ridge Boulevard.
- Transfer and reconnection of existing 88th Avenue water services.
- Removal and installation of fire hydrants.
Lane and shoulder closures will be in effect throughout the project, which is scheduled to be completed by
May 31, 2024. Road work under the Kenosha County contract will continue after the water main work has been completed. Motorists are urged to observe construction signage and drive with extreme caution when traveling through the project area.
