The Pleasant Prairie Fire & Rescue Department invites residents and visitors to the annual Safety Day in the Prairie, which will take place on Saturday, September 14, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. The free event will be held at Fire Station #1, located at 3801 Springbrook Road.
Safety Day in the Prairie offers engaging and educational experiences for all ages. Attendees can see a 100-foot aerial platform fire truck, view the Flight for Life helicopter, and explore other emergency vehicles. Children can enjoy activities such as a bounce house and using a fire hose to put out a pretend fire. The event will also feature fire station tours and technical rescue equipment demonstrations.
Representatives from various Village of Pleasant Prairie safety entities, including the Fire & Rescue Department, Police Department, Emergency Dispatch, and Public Works, will be present to interact with attendees and explain their roles in the community. Other organizations, such as Aurora Health Care, Froedtert South, Kenosha County Public Health, and the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Department, will join the event to share information about their public safety efforts.
“This event is a unique opportunity for residents to meet local firefighters, police officers, and other safety personnel and to learn more about the essential services they provide,” said Craig Roepke, Chief of Fire & Rescue. “It also highlights the safety training our teams undergo to ensure they are well-prepared to handle a wide range of emergencies.”
Sponsored by the Pleasant Prairie Fire & Rescue Department, Safety Day in the Prairie is made possible through generous donations from individuals, groups, and corporations in the Village. Held ahead of Fire Prevention Month in October, the event raises awareness about fire safety, encourages community members to develop fire safety plans, and promotes life-saving practices.
