Two separate, but related, agreements aimed at securing 500 new jobs in Pleasant Prairie, as a result of the development of the new Uline Corporate Campus, were reviewed and approved by the Pleasant Prairie Village Board on September 15. As part of the agreement with the State of Wisconsin, Pleasant Prairie has agreed to reimburse the State for a Transportation Economic Assistance (TEA) Grant if the Uline Corporate Campus Project fails to create 500 new jobs within three years and retain them for an additional four years. As part of the agreement with Uline, the company, in turn, will agree to reimburse the Village of Pleasant Prairie for the amount of the TEA Grant should it not deliver those same 500 new jobs with the same terms.
The agreements will become part of an application submitted to the State of Wisconsin to secure a $1,000,000 TEA Grant. Funds from the grant will be used to finance a portion of the roadway improvements, which will help make the Uline Corporate Campus a reality. If approved by the State of Wisconsin and Uline, the agreements will secure the promise of 500 new jobs within the next three years. The value of the Uline development is expected to be near $100 million upon completion. One thousand people are expected to work from the Pleasant Prairie location upon full build-out of the site, which is anticipated in 2015.
"Pending State approval, this will be one of, if not the, largest job guarantee agreements in the State's history," commented John Steinbrink Sr., Pleasant Prairie Village President. "This will have a significant impact on our local and regional economy. Not only will Uline bring new, high quality, employment opportunities to southeastern Wisconsin, but their presence will provide another layer of economic diversity and stability in our area." Uline is a leading, international, packing supply company with a strong belief in operational excellence and customer focus.
