Members of the Tremper Trojans High School football team spent the weekend of May 17 and 18 volunteering their time to build a community playground in Pleasant Prairie. Collectively, the team members devoted nearly 100 volunteer hours installing playground equipment that spans an approximate 40-foot by 30-foot area in Pleasant Prairie Park.
Pleasant Prairie had plans to install playground equipment as part of a Master Park and Open Space Plan for the Village. They had recently purchased additional property to accommodate the installation of the playground and a recently constructed soccer field. The park is an integral part of the youth sports programs run through the Village Recreation Department and offers two baseball fields, the new soccer field and now playground equipment. It is expected that the new playground equipment will be well used by all of the families traveling to the park for youth sports programs.
The Village of Pleasant Prairie would like to publicly thank the Tremper football team members for all of their hard work. "This was a great group to work with, and their efforts are greatly appreciated!" commented John Steinbrink Jr., Superintendent of Public Works. "Seeing these young people involved in a community project for area youth was really an inspiring experience." Pleasant Prairie Park is located at 104th Avenue and Bain Station Road.
