Members of the Tremper Trojans High School football team spent the weekend of May 17 and 18 volunteering their time to build a community playground in Pleasant Prairie. Collectively, the team members devoted nearly 100 volunteer hours to installing playground equipment that spans an approximate 40-foot by 30-foot area in Pleasant Prairie Park. "This was an amazing experience, we can't thank the team enough for helping to install the playground equipment," commented Public Works Superintendent, John Steinbrink Jr. "Seeing these young people involved in a community project for area youth was really inspiring."
The Village of Pleasant Prairie had plans to install playground equipment as part of a Master Park and Open Space Plan for the Village. Pleasant Prairie had recently purchased additional property to accommodate the installation of the playground and a recently constructed soccer field. The park is an integral part of the youth sports programs run through the Village Recreation Department and offers two baseball fields, the new soccer field and now playground equipment.
"We expect that this equipment will see a lot of use for years to come, by area kids, and those who visit for youth sporting programs as well," commented John Steinbrink Jr. "We would like to publicly thank the Tremper football team members for all of their hard work. They are a great group to work with and their efforts are greatly appreciated!" Pleasant Prairie Park is located at 104th Avenue and Bain Station Road in the Village of Pleasant Prairie.
