After being closed to the public for approximately two months, Pleasant Prairie RecPlex will be open for members on Tuesday, May 26. The facility initially closed to the public on March 18 to align with recommendations from local government and CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention) guidelines. Working in conjunction with Kenosha County and referencing the Badger Bounce Back Plan, RecPlex is creating a balanced approach to re-opening that will safeguard members and staff, while allowing access to the facility.
“We know this has not been an easy time and that everyone is looking forward to getting back into their routine,” said Elizabeth Caruso, Membership and Guest Services Manager. “The threat, however, is not over, so we will continue to keep everyone safe at our facility.”
RecPlex staff is working hard to get everything in place for the re-opening. The facility is planning to open in phases. RecPlex will have limited hours of operation, 6:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m., during the soft opening week, from Tuesday, May 26, to Friday, May 29. The management team at RecPlex is developing best practices and safety procedures to bring everyone back safely.
Best practices include:
- Avoid touching your eyes, mouth, and nose.
- Stay at least six feet, about two arms’ length, from other people.
- Do not gather in groups.
- Members are asked to clean equipment before and after every use with provided supplies.
- Wash your hands with soap and water for 20 seconds before and after exercising.
Safety procedures:
- Members are encouraged to wear masks, and employees are required to wear them.
- Extra cleaning is being implemented, especially in high contact areas.
- Members are asked to wipe each piece of fitness equipment before and after use.
- The amount of sanitizing wipe stations has been increased.
