Village of Pleasant Prairie, partnering with the Steering Committee and RINKA (architects, planners, and designers), is preparing to move forward with the proposed Village Green Center mixed-use “downtown” development. RINKA has created a Draft Concept Master Plan and Civil Site Analysis that will be presented to residents at a public information meeting.
The Village Green open house event was originally going to be held on Thursday, April 2, but due to the COVID-19 outbreak the open house will be rescheduled at a later time. An announcement will be made when as soon as a date is decided.
The meeting will be an open-house format so residents can attend any time during the meeting. There will be a formal presentation given at the beginning, with project concepts on display. Representatives from RINKA will present the vision of the proposed Village Green Center concept and also be available to address any questions from the community.
Village residents are encouraged to attend the open house to review the Draft Concept Master Plan and provide feedback. Initial concepts for the Village Green Center arose during an open engagement process in 2019. The development is being explored in greater depth during the Master Planning phase for the downtown project. The public input received from the community will play a vital role in helping shape the future Village Green Center.
“Community engagement is an essential part of the strategic plan for the Village Green Center,” said Nathan Thiel, Village Administrator. “The open house event will showcase initial concepts for the project and allow residents to share their voice. Resident feedback is critical in determining the vision, priorities, goals, and strategies for the future downtown area.”
The proposed Village Green Center mixed-use development consists of approximately 180 acres of land, generally located at Springbrook Road, 39th Avenue, and State Highway 165. After receiving public feedback from the Draft Concept Master Plan, RINKA, Village staff, and the Steering Committee will create a final Village Green Master Plan. Zoning documents will also be developed to guide the layout for public and private improvements within the Village Green Center.
