At an August 20 meeting of the Pleasant Prairie Village Board, the Board approved the adoption of a resolution and commendation for Jeannette Bergo, a former lifeguard for the Village of Pleasant Prairie. While attending the Prairie Family Days activities on Sunday, August 5, Ms. Bergo witnessed a swimmer in distress in Lake Andrea, a lake adjacent to the festival grounds. Ms. Bergo responded immediately, with no concern for her own safety, and quickly brought the distressed swimmer to shore.
The swimmer, an adult male, had been attempting to swim to a stationary boat on the lake and was no longer able to keep his head above water. The Village Board wishes to publicly express their gratitude and admiration to Ms. Bergo for her heroic act. The resolution acknowledges her bravery and life-saving efforts.
