The Village of Pleasant Prairie is pleased to announce a partnership with Call2Recycle. Through the partnership, the Village will be able to accept rechargeable batteries and old cellular telephones for recycling at each of its locations: the Roger Prange Center, RecPlex/IcePlex, Fire Station #2 and Village Hall. The program will begin in the Village on October 15.
Beginning October 15, rechargeable batteries that will be accepted for recycling include: Nickel Cadmium (Ni-Cd), Nickel Metal Hydride (Ni-MH), Lithium Ion (Li-ion) and Small Sealed Lead (Pb) weighing up to two pounds or one kilogram each. Rechargeable batteries that are acceptable will be marked with the EPA certified recycling seal. Alkaline batteries are not accepted for recycling. All sizes, makes and models of cellular phones are also acceptable for recycling through the program. Those that are not accepted for recycling include: household cordless phones, mobile installed or bag telephone units, two-way radios, walkie-talkies and pagers.
Call2Recycle donates a portion of the proceeds from the resale of recycled cell phones to selected charities.
