Representatives for the Pleasant Prairie Power Plant have informed Village officials that the train traffic carrying coal to the plant will begin using the Canadian Pacific Railroad as of January 1, 2009. Coal cars currently access the power plant from the Union Pacific Line, which is the eastern most set of train tracks located west of Highway 31. Automobile travelers in the area of County Highway H and 95th Street, near the power plant, can expect to see additional train traffic on these tracks phased in between January 1 and 17. Coal cars will travel the tracks at random times. Officials have indicated that during peak power production times, two trains per day can be expected.

Remote monitors will be installed at the Highway H and 95th Street crossings to alert Police and Fire & Rescue Dispatchers when the roadway will be blocked by passing coal cars. This will allow public safety responders to avoid the route while trains carrying coal are crossing there. No train cars are expected to park on the Canadian Pacific line at these two intersections. With the transfer from the Union Pacific to the Canadian Pacific Line it is expected that there will be a reduction in the number of railroad cars stopping on the Union Pacific tracks at Bain Station Road.
