On October 6, the Village Board approved a resolution authorizing the jurisdictional transfer of a portion of Springbrook Road from Kenosha County to the Village. As of January 1, 2009, the Village will assume ownership, maintenance and operation of Springbrook Road from 89th Street to State Highway 165. Should residents need to contact the municipality regarding snow plowing or maintenance concerns with this portion of the road, as of January 1, they can contact the Pleasant Prairie Public Works Department at,

The transfer is in response to plans for residential and neighborhood commercial development that will occur in the Village according to its Comprehensive Land Use Plan. The area of the road to be transferred to the Village will run through the future Village Green Center that has been in the planning stages for several years. During late 2007 and early 2008, two café-style, public meetings were held to gather community input for the planning of the Village Green Center. Since those meetings, developers and Village planners have been working through the input to develop more refined and detailed plans for the Village Green Center.
The assumption of ownership of this portion of Springbrook Road will allow the Village to more efficiently plan for the development of the road and its surrounding areas. It will also assist in capital planning for both Pleasant Prairie and Kenosha County. The transfer will now need to be approved by representatives from Kenosha County in order for it to take effect.
