On Monday, October 6, the Pleasant Prairie Village Board approved an agreement for professional engineering design services for the reconstruction of 85th Street between Cooper Road and 63rd Avenue. Work being planned for this section of roadway includes the widening of road, the installation of curb and gutter, and the planting of street trees and landscaping. A traffic study for the intersections at Cooper Road and 60th Avenue will help determine the need for traffic signals at each of the two intersections.
Work on the roadway is expected to begin in April of 2009. Planners anticipate that the project will be complete prior to September of 2009, barring any unforeseen circumstances. Village engineering staff is planning to host public involvement meetings related to the project to help share information with affected residents and answer questions related to the reconstruction. The public will be notified once arrangements for the meetings have been made. No additional property will need to be acquired to complete the project. It will be completed within the existing right-of-way.
Crispell-Snyder of Lake Geneva will be the engineering firm coordinating the design and reconstruction of the project. The Village has received a Local Roads Improvement Grant from the State to cover $1.2 million of the costs related to the project. The entire cost of the roadway reconstruction is estimated as $2.4 million. The remaining funds will come from the Capital Project Fund.XSA
