A portion of County Highway Q, west of I-94 in Pleasant Prairie, has now opened for automobile traffic. As of Friday, December 12, 2008, automobile traffic may now resume travel on Q between Interstate 94 and County Highway U. Work on this portion of the roadway began in June of 2008.
Work completed includes: the realignment and reconstruction of the west frontage road south of Highway Q; the widening of County Highway Q to four lanes west to the Village limits; and the construction of water, sewer, storm water and roadway infrastructure on property adjacent to the interstate owned by the Village's Community Development Authority. Minor signage work remains on the west frontage road. The west frontage road is expected to reopen next week. Remaining work on the project, scheduled for completion next spring, includes the installation of lighting, landscaping and a final layer of asphalt paving.
The work was planned in order to prepare the area to accommodate future commercial traffic. Property located west of the realigned frontage road will be the future home of Uline's new corporate headquarters and distribution facility. Construction of the Uline property is currently underway.
