The Preschool U program at LakeView RecPlex will be expanding with two new classrooms for the upcoming fall semester, due to begin on September 2, 2008. One new 3-year old classroom and one new K4 classroom will be built in space currently occupied by the RecPlex administrative offices. The expansion will accommodate 30 to 35 additional students.
RecPlex began offering a preschool program in 2003. Since that time, the program has experienced consistent growth. PreSchool U at RecPlex currently serves 63 (2-, 3-, and 4-year old) students on alternating days. Classes are offered year-round on a full- or part-time basis and offer a broad curriculum. Age appropriate curriculum includes: structured and free play times, swimming, ice skating, music, art, Spanish, colors, shapes, numbers, letters, patterns, science and math.
"Our staff aims to meet the children and their parents at their own level of development when they enter the program and then aims to help them as far along as we can," commented Melissa Santell, Preschool Coordinator for RecPlex. "The uniqueness of our facility allows us to offer an atmosphere where fun and learning really do go hand-in-hand." Students at PreSchool U have access to a 425-acre park with nature trails, lake and sand beach. Indoors, children have access to an expansive fieldhouse, aquatic center, ice arena and age appropriate play area.
Registration for the fall semester is already underway, and the new classrooms have already begun to fill. Limited spaces are still available for 2-, 3- and 4-year olds.
