2010 MEETING DATES REVISED
During late 2009, the Village announced changes to meeting days and times for 2010 Village Board and Commissions meetings. A standard starting time of 6:00 p.m. was established for all regularly scheduled Board and Commissions meetings. Initial changes were considered in order to make the meeting times more convenient for the majority of those who may possibly attend by creating a standard starting time for all.
In addition to creating a standard starting time for all meetings, the Village also took the opportunity to consider whether changes to the meeting days were warranted. Upon initial consideration, it appeared that shifting days of the week would help to avoid conflicts with other recurring events or holidays. With the start of the new year, however, the Village has realized that changing the meeting day for Village Board and Plan Commission meetings has created additional conflicts.
MEETINGS TO MOVE BACK TO MONDAY EVENINGS
To rectify the situation, Village Board and Plan Commission meetings will return to Monday evenings and will begin at the new standard starting time of 6:00 p.m. Mike Pollocoff, Village Administrator explained, "Upon initial consideration, it appeared that moving the meetings to an alternate day would be an improvement. We've learned that this just isn't the case." Pollocoff added, "Before we get too far along, we feel it's best to step up and address it immediately. We'll return the meetings to Monday and keep moving forward."
SHARING THE NEW MEETING DATES
As a result of the change, the meeting dates published in the print version of the 2010 Village Calendar are no longer accurate. Residents can find correct meeting dates in their monthly Village Newsletter and in the online version of the Village Calendar, which is available by clicking here and scrolling to the bottom of the page.
"We apologize for any confusion this change has created," said Pollocoff, "And we'd like to make this another opportunity to invite residents to become more involved in their local government by attending Village meetings." All residents are welcome to attend Village meetings to learn more about their Village government.
