RecPlex in Pleasant Prairie is pleased to introduce a new youth football league to the community for ages seven through 14. In an effort to maximize safety for young players, the new RecPlex Football League (RFL) will match players to divisions based on both age and weight, as opposed to matching based on age alone. Teams will be determined based on the school the youth attends.
Registration for the RecPlex Football League begins April 1 and ends June 13. The RFL's inaugural season kicks off mid-August. The registration fee per youth is $135. RecPlex members receive a $35 discount. Players must purchase their own protective equipment. “We've researched other programs in the local area and throughout the State,” explained Kris Jensen, Director of Sports and Recreation. “By matching the kids based on both weight and age, we feel the new RecPlex Football League will offer kids a great opportunity as far as safety and participation goes.”
Volunteer coaches for the new league are needed. Volunteer coaches will go through a training/certification process for the new league. Those interested in coaching are asked to call 262/925-6739.
RFL games will be played primarily at Pleasant Prairie Park. Games will be played on weekday evenings and Saturday mornings and afternoons. Four different divisions have been identified.
