On Monday, March 1, the Pleasant Prairie Village Board passed a resolution in support of the installation of a four-way stop at the intersection of County Highway H and 95th Street. Based on collision history at the intersection and requirements outlined in the Manual of Uniform Traffic Control Devices, the Kenosha County Highway Commissioner believes that a four-way stop would assist in reducing the number of collisions at the intersection. The Pleasant Prairie Village Board and staff agree.

There have been approximately 32 incidents at the intersection over the past three years, according to Pleasant Prairie Police Department records. At the intersection, north and southbound traffic is not currently required to stop. Traffic from the west exiting Terwall Terrace and traffic from the east exiting 95th Street is currently required to stop. Failure to yield was the most common explanation cited for accidents at the intersection.

"The goal is to reduce the number of accidents at this location," explained Village Engineer Mike Spence. "We fully support the County Highway Commissioner in this pursuit." The Kenosha County Highway Commissioner will now proceed with steps to have a four-way stop installed. The installation of a four-way stop would serve as an interim measure to reduce the potential for accidents at the intersection until a signalized intersection could be constructed at some point in the future.
